Practitioner Examaination Details
The Practitioner is the second of the two PRINCE2 Examinations you are required to pass to become a PRINCE2 Practitioner.
This level is aiming to measure whether a candidate would be able to apply PRINCE2 to the running and managing of a project within an environment supporting PRINCE2. To this end they need to exhibit the competence required for the Foundation qualification, and show that they can apply and tune PRINCE2 to address the needs and problems of a specific project scenario, specifically, candidates must be able to:
Produce detailed explanations of all processes, components and techniques, and worked examples of all PRINCE2 products as they might be applied to address the particular circumstances of a given project scenario.
Show they understand the relationships between processes, components, techniques and PRINCE2 products and can apply this understanding.
Demonstrate that they understand the reasons behind the processes, components and techniques of PRINCE2, and that they understand the principles underpinning these elements.
Demonstrate their ability to tune PRINCE2 to different project circumstances.
The examination format has also changed; instead of the written 3 hour essay style paper the Objective Style Testing examination now has the following format:
- There are 9 questions with a scenario and appendices
- Each question is worth 40 marks (Total 360 marks available)
- To pass the PRINCE2 Objective Style Testing examination candidates require 180 correct answers from the possible.
- The PRINCE2 Objective Style Testing is 3 hours in duration
The old Style examination for the PRINCE2 Practitioner was as follows:
- A general project scenario is given to the candidates
- 3 questions, each is worth 50 marks
- Three hour duration
- In addition, 15 minutes Reading Time before the exam starts
- Overall score of 75 out of a possible 150 is required to pass
- Open-book examination (only paper-based reference material is allowed)
Datrix Training was the first training company to deliver Objective Testing Practitioner examinations, and no longer offers the 3 hour written examination.
Re-Accreditation Examination Details
This examination is required if you wish to continue using the Prince2 Practitioner accreditation for more than five years after last qualifying. Candidates who qualified prior to October 2000 do not need to take the re-accreditation examination, as their certificate was guaranteed for life. However, PRINCE2 Practitioners wishing to ensure their skills are up to date may take the re-accreditation if they wish. By doing so, they agree to re-qualifying every five years.
This re-accreditation is to ensure that Prince2 Practitioners keep their skills in line with current practices. To this end they need to exhibit the competence required for the Practitioner qualification as it applies in the current version of the manual.
The exam is similar in format and style to the Practitioner, with amendments detailed below.
- A general project scenario is given to the candidates
- Answer one question from a possible three questions, each is worth 50 marks
- One hour duration
- In addition, 15 minutes Reading Time before the exam starts
- Overall score of 25 out of a possible 50 is required to pass
- Open-book examination (only paper-based reference material is allowed)
